MORE ABOUT LA
We need to bring the Liberal Alternatives to the center-stage.
We are surrounded by economists, planners, academicians, policy advisers, journalists, writers, social workers, artists and political workers and leaders who were brought-up in the post 1950 era dominated by leftists and socialists under a Nehruvian and Gandhian umbrella of Congress, Janata Dal and now under BJP with the same agenda.
The opposite camp, mostly coming out of the Congress umbrella barring a few exceptions, always had deep and sometimes deeper shades of red. The exceptions surfacing in different fields however had a distinct liberal trait. This liberal trait was attacked all the while by the leftists and rightists for different reasons, and could not emerge as an alternative.
At the end of 20th century, the promises of the left have withered and in first and second decade of the 21st century the right has shown that the problems of our country are beyond its comprehension and reach. We liberals have a responsibility. We need to bring the Liberal Alternatives to the center-stage.
